God is by nature good and He didn’t destine humankind for hell. However, since He respects our free will, we still have the capacity to fall into hell by following our own distorted will and not performing good works to the best of our abilities.
The only passion that hinders us from fulfilling God’s commandments, from performing acts of virtue, is negligence, which can be cured by alms-giving and prayer.
The distortion of our human nature is shocking. We lose eternal paradise senselessly.
