Usually at the beginning, God gives small intimate gifts in order to see that He is real and to show you a very small part from what’s possible: like a candy-maker who advertises his products.
However, after this, one must struggle to clean his soul from passions in order to feel again such things and to make them his wealth. At the beginning, grace is abundant. After few years—usually three or four—grace hides. After this, grace comes and goes pedagogically. Yet, this game is not a zero-sum one: grace, which is God’s divine energy, guides the Christian like a mother to salvation, things which we experience little by little, even from this life.
