There is more mercy in God than there are sins in us. Confess your sins at once, whatever they may be.
So, the main cause to lose eternal happiness is our lack of courage to look in the mirror to see what we are.
One could say that our sins are like a small spark in God’s ocean of mercy. However, this is wrong because the ocean–even if it is huge–has margins while God’s mercy is endless.
It depends on us what side we’re going on: toward heaven or toward hell.
