Where does the knowledge of created things come from?

St. Gregory Palamas teaches that knowledge of created things comes from doing virtuous deeds. And when asked what the aim of virtuous deeds is, he writes: “Union with God and becoming like Him”. Doing virtuous deeds is connected with keeping the commandments. This hesychast saint further remarks that love for God “comes only through the sacred performance of the divine commandments”.
