The Baptismal Tonsure

The tonsure, which is reminiscent of the vow of the Nazirite, is the symbolic act of consecrating of your life to God by cutting off and forsaking your self-will.
There are three types of such dedications: baptismal, monastic, and clerical. In all cases, the hair is allowed to grow back; the tonsure as such is not imposed as a required hairstyle on the candidate.
Newly-tonsured aspirants will put into practice and utilize the gift of grace which they’ve received from God, in accordance with their conscience and zeal.
