Creation is not an event in the past but a relationship in the present

Creation is not an event in the past but a relationship in the present. If God did not continue to exert his creative will at every moment, the universe would immediately lapse into non-being; nothing could exist for a single second if God did not will it to be. As Metropolitan Philaret of Moscow puts it, “All creatures are balanced upon the creative word of God, as if upon a bridge of diamond; above them is the abyss of divine infinitude, below them that of their own nothingness”.
Based on Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia, Saint Philaret of Moscow
Cranes are used at almost all the monasteries on the Holy Mountain to aid in the restoration of the buildings. This one is at Vatopaidi.

Reading this, I immediately thought of the verses of the psalm ‘You send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth’. Yesterday I met someone who has lost faith in God, because of the present state of the world, i.e. wars and hunger etc., but God remains in control, we know this because of what He promised. The problems of the world strengthen my faith….’I will sing to the Lord all my life, make music to my God while I live’. From the same psalm.
Ioan Toma
God isn’t to blame for the problems of our world. We are to blame because we use wrongly our liberty. If we do protests (quite a fashion these days) if we think that someone cuts our liberties, then what would be our relationship with God if He would cut our „liberties” (read: stupidities) as it should?
