Obedience is absolute renunciation of our own life, clearly expressed in our bodily actions. Or, conversely, obedience is the mortification of the limbs while the mind remains alive. Obedience is unquestioning movement, voluntary death, simple life, carefree danger, spontaneous defense by God, fearlessness of death, a safe voyage, a sleeper’s progress.

I am interested in the phrase, ‘sleepers progress.’ To me it infers the humble person who is LIVING humility, in a way, not realizing that they are humble, not being aware of their ‘progress.’ The ideal way of living in humility?
Ioan Toma
Yes. St. John speaks very well about this. Also, other fathers say something similar: https://asceticexperience.com/portfolio/what-is-true-humility/
