God is NOT an avenger – Photo Journal with Metropolitan Andrew of Cluj

The man who chooses to consider God an avenger, presuming that in this manner he bears witness to His justice, accuses Him of being bereft of goodness. Far be it, that vengeance could ever be found in that Fountain of love and Ocean brimming with goodness! The aim of His providence is the correction of men; and if it were not that, we would be stripped of the honour of our free will, and perhaps He would not be able to heal us by reproving us.

God is our Father, not our tyrant. Let us acknowledge Him as such.
