Saint Joseph of Timișoara: how to make him to help us – Photo Report from Liturgy

Pray to the saint whose name you bear, and he [or she] will help you. Turn to him in times of sorrow and sickness; in difficult circumstances and in moments of joy… He brings our prayer before God and intercedes for us. At the end of life, when we depart for the other world, our patron saint will be standing next to us. If we venerated him and prayed to him, he will stand next to our guardian angel to protect us from Satan’s accusations.
If we claim to have fellowship with God and his saints and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

In this photo, Bishop Paisios Lugojanul, the vicar bishop of the Metropolitan of Timișoara, is shown at the Liturgy on the Feast of Saint Joseph from Partoș (Timișoara). Saint Joseph is both the patron saint of Timișoara and a saint of Vatopaidi Monastery, to which he retired at the age of 70 to live in quiet as a monk for several years. However he was called out of his quiet life to become the Metropolitan of Timișoara at the age of 82.
In honor of Saint Joseph, the Monastery is presently building a cell (a small monastic house) dedicated to him (donations welcome [in English and Romanian] – more details here [in Romanian]) in order to acquire his blessing both for the monks and for those who contribute to the construction of his cell.
